Ca. 1850's small oval glass-fronted silvered brass reliquary theca housing ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Saint Philomena. The relic is identified on a paper cedula as Ex Oss. S Filumenae V. M. (ex ossibus of Saint Philomena Virgin and Martyr) and secured by a seal of red wax with an imprint of a coat of arms of Andrea Charvaz (†1870), Archbishop of Genoa (1852-1869).
Saint Philomena was a young lady whose remains were discovered in 1802 in the Catacombs of Priscilla. She is a Patron of children, youth, babies, infants, priests, lost causes, sterility, virgins, Children of Mary, The Universal Living Rosary Association, Sibonga, and Cebu. Her feast day is venerated on the 11th of August.
