Theca with first class ex ossibus relic of Unmercenary Healer and Greatmartyr Saint Pantaleon (Panteleimon)

Oval silver glass-fronted theca housing first class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Unmercenary Healer and Greatmartyr Saint Pantaleon (Panteleimon). The relic is mounted on a gold foil burst on the background of red silk and surrounded by twisted wire ornamentation. It is identified with fancy cut  paper cedula inscribed as Ex Oss(ibus) S. Pantaleonis Mart.[yr] Authenticated on the back with red wax seal of Fr. Francesco Gaetano Incontri, Archbishop of Florence (p. 1741-1781).

Greatmartyr Panteleimon (or Pantaleon) was the Unmercenary Healer martyred under the reign of Emperor Maximian (ca. 305 A.D.). Saint Panteleimon had been educated as a physician, and he "dedicated his life to the suffering, the sick, the unfortunate and the needy. He treated all those who turned to him without charge, healing them in the name of Jesus Christ. He is a Holy Patron of physicians, midwives, livestock, lottery winners and victories, invoked against headaches, consumption, locusts, witchcraft, accidents and loneliness, helper for crying children.
