1799 Documented reliquary theca with relics of St. Joseph of Cupertino, Patron of aviation & students

Oval crystal-fronted silver pendant reliquary theca housing the first-class ex praecordis and ex ossibus (of the inner organs and of the bone) pre-canonization relics of Saint Joseph of Cupertino. The substantial relics are affixed to a red silk ground surrounded by gilt paperolle and silver wire ornamentation and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as Ex Praecordiis // B. Josephi a Cup. // Ex Ossibus (of the inner organs and of the bone of the Blessed Joseph of Cupertino).  On the back the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of Father Adeodato Turchi (†1803), Bishop of Parma, Italy (1788-1803). The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued and sealed by the order of Bishop Turchi in 1799.

Saint Joseph of Cupertino, O.F.M. Conv. (†1663) was an Italian Conventual Franciscan friar who is honored as a Christian mystic and saint. He was said to have been remarkably unclever, but prone to miraculous levitation and intense ecstatic visions that left him gaping. Joseph was beatified in 1753 and canonized in 1767. He is a patron of The City of Osimo, aviation, astronauts, mental handicaps, test taking, students.
