1982 Documented reliquary with relic of Bl. Maria Angela Astorch, Mystic of the Breviary

Round white-metal glass-fronted reliquary theca housing first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Blessed Maria Angela Astorch. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground adored by silver wire ornamentation and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as B. M.A. Astorch (Blessed Maria Angela Astorch). On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of Order of Friars Minor Capuchin. The reliquary is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued by the Postulator General of the Order on May 20, 1982, at the time of her beatification.

Blessed Maria Angela Astorch (†1665) was a Capuchin Poor Clare, mystic, and founder of monasteries in Zaragoza and Murcia. Orphaned young, she joined the Capuchin Poor Clares at age 11, professing in 1609. As novice mistress and abbess, she led with compassion, introducing daily Communion and fostering spiritual growth. Known as the “Mystic of the Breviary,” her deep liturgical devotion inspired her writings and mystical experiences. Despite challenges like floods and defamation, her leadership strengthened her communities. Beatified by Pope John Paul II on May 23, 1982, her feast day is December 2.
