Theca with relic of St. Philip Neri, Apostle of Rome

18th century oval silver crystal-fronted theca housing second class ex Interula (of the inner garmet) relic of Saint Philip Neri. The relic is affixed to a background of multicolored silk, surrounded by intricate paperole ornamentation and titled on paper typographic cedula as Ex Interula S. Phil.[ipo] Neri (of the inner garmet of Saint Philip Neri). The back of the theca is secured by a perfectly preserved seal of red Spanish wax with a coat of Catholic bishop.


St. Philip Romolo Neri, (Italian: Filippo Romolo Neri; † 1595), known as the Apostle of Rome, was an Italian priest noted for founding a society of secular clergy called the Congregation of the Oratory of Filippo Neri. PHe is a Holy patron of Rome, Mandaluyong, US Special Forces, Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, laughter, humor, and joy.
